The diagnosis is generally understood to be the detection or determination of a disease. The word is derived from the ancient Greek diágnosis = under- or decision. It results from a summarized assessment of the collected findings. These can be individual complaints and signs of illness (symptoms) or typical combinations of symptoms or syndromes. Normal findings or non-pathological deviations from the norm can also contribute to finding a diagnosis. These findings are determined by means of a systematic questioning (anamnesis), a thorough physical examination as well as by means of instrumental examinations. Various imaging techniques are available for this purpose: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRT), X-ray, scintigraphy, bone densitometry and ultrasound (sonography). The diagnosis is decisive for the further course of treatment (therapy).

In addition to the focus on herniated discs, the health of muscles and joints is the focus of my medical activity as an orthopaedic surgeon. Examples: Treatment of osteoporosis, joint degeneration (arthrosis) and congenital growth disorders in children and adolescents (scoliosis, Scheuermann, Schlatter's disease). The treatment options in our orthopaedic practice are manifold: In the treatment of acute and chronic pain, the doctor uses therapies from a wide range of medical disciplines. Besides chiropractic and pain therapy, acupuncture (TCM) is also used. The orthopaedic surgeon also relies on new forms of therapy such as periradicular therapy (PRT). In some cases, however, an operation is inevitable. In this area, there is close cooperation with the currently best surgical specialists in Berlin and throughout Germany.

Sport, especially competitive sport, places high demands on the body and exposes it to extreme stress. In our sports orthopaedics department we monitor the health of (competitive) athletes and advise them on healthy training. This is also not uninteresting for hobby sportsmen.
